What’s the most affordable, LGBTQ+ friendly City in Massachusetts

What city’s the runner-up for most affordable, LGBTQ+ friendly in Massachusetts? Northampton! Why? The Human Rights Campaign gives Northampton a 100 on its Municipal Equality Index. Home values average $421,000 per property, which is the third best in Massachusetts.  The rents average $2,198 a month for a 2-bedroom/2-bathroom apartment, which is in the middle for the state. The cost of living in Northampton is 105.1% of the national average and is the third best for Massachusetts. The average income is $83,000 yearly, and the median income is $67,000 yearly.

So, which is the winner for the most affordable, LGBTQ+ friendly city in Massachusetts? Worcester! Why? It scores an HRC MEI of 100.  Home values in Worcester average $381,000 a year, which is the second best in Massachusetts. Rents average $1,796 a month per apartment and is the second best in the state. The cost of living is 105.1% of the national average and the second best for Massachusetts. The average income is $80,000 a year, the second lowest in Massachusetts. Median income averages $65,000 a year and is also the second lowest for the state.

Some great things about Worcester include it is Known as the Heart of the Commonwealth. It is just 40 miles from Boston. Worcester has a long history of being inclusive with many LGBTQ+ services. Pride’s is in September and was held September 9th this year.
