What’s the most affordable, Best LGBTQ+ friendly City in Minnesota

The runner-up city for most affordable, LGBTQ+ friendly city in Minnesota is . . . Minneapolis! Why? Minneapolis scores 100 on the Human Rights Campaigns Municipal Equality Index, one of two Minnesota cities. Home values average $328,000 per property, which is somewhat in the middle for the state. Rents average $1,597 a month for a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment. This is also kind of in the middle for Minnesota. The cost of living in Minneapolis is 120.1% of the national average, which is the second highest for Minnesota. The average income is $85,000 annually, which falls in about the middle for the state. Median income is $62,000 annually, the third highest for Minnesota.

Which is the winning city for the most affordable, LGBTQ+ friendly city in Minnesota? St. Paul (just across the river from Minneapolis)! Why? St. Paul also scores a 100 on HRC’s MEI. Home values average $286,000 per property, and rents average $1,417 monthly for a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment. This ranks as the second lowest in Minnesota. The cost of living is 113.6% of the national average, which falls in the middle for Minnesota. The average income is $71,000 a year, the second lowest for Minnesota. The median income is $55,00 a year, the third lowest for the state.

Deluth is a really close #3 for the most affordable, LGBTQ+ friendly city in Minnesota. It’s also right on the water, quickly becoming the “San Francisco” of the Midwest due to climate change. Great things about St. Paul include that it’s the state capital and one of the two Twin Cities with Minneapolis. Pride is typically the second weekend in June, June 10 this past year (2023).
