How Jillian took a dozen mini-retirements and you can too
Are you postponing your personal goals and dreams until you turn 65? What if you don’t have to wait until retirement to travel, write your memoir, or pursue a hobby you love? What if you could take several mini-retirements throughout your career and achieve some of those ambitions along the way? Jillian Johnsrud is the creator of Retire Often, a platform that helps people take a series of successful sabbaticals throughout their careers. Jillian reached financial independence at 32 and has since traveled to 27 countries with her family. She is also the author of Fire the Haters and the Retire Often podcast host.
On this episode of Queer Money®, Jillian joins us to explain why it’s challenging to achieve our personal goals on nights and weekends and explore what you might do on a sabbatical from work. Jillian discusses the pros and cons of taking mini-retirements and describes how to plan for the financial and emotional aspects of taking a break from work.
