What does the survey tell us about LGBTQ HealthCare
We shared on Queer Money® podcast episode #372 that 87% of the community has health insurance either through their employer or through the open market. Someone asked us about the racial breakdown of the other 13%, so we dug a little deeper.
First, with the survey, we wanted to overweight for transgender, and non-binary folks in the survey since so many surveys that include LGBTQ folks seem to focus heavily on lesbian and gay.

What do the numbers tell us?

- Asian or white, on average, were slightly more likely to have healthcare
- Hispanic/Latino or Arabs are neither more nor less likely to have healthcare
- Black, multi-racial, those who chose not to specify their race, and those that chose other are all slightly more likely to not have healthcare

What can we take away from this information?

- Race does have an impact on whether or not you have healthcare in the LGBTQ community.
- Every racial group w/in the LGBTQ community is below the national average when it comes to having health care insurance.
- Healthcare insurance access is very much tied to both having a job or having a good source of income.
